SOCA: Fostering SOFC Technology Commercialization

The Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)
Commercialization Association (SOCA)

was established February 13, 1998 as a non-profit corporation in Pennsylvania with the primary focus to foster the development and commercialization of Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation’s tubular SOFC technology. The principal office of SOCA is located at 1310 Beulah Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15235.

SOCA was organized in order to provide a means by which companies engaged in energy related businesses may voluntarily coordinate their efforts to assist in the development of products and applications of interest to the power generation industry, based on tubular SOFC technology. SOCA is also intended to be an organization that fosters information exchange between interested companies on potential distributed power generation applications for commercial SOFC products.

SOCA is an independent, self-governing, and self-financed organization
with operating expenses covered by membership dues. SOCA has a Governing Committee elected by and from the membership that oversees the day-to-day operation of the organization. SOCA has an Administrator who engages in promotional activities to solicit new members, arranges membership meetings, writes and distributes meeting minutes and newsletters, accounts for membership fees and disbursements, and generally administers all aspects of the organization.
