WGP Engineering Services
Jerry joined Westinghouse in July 1963 and has spent his career primarily
focused on the development of advanced energy systems including advanced
nuclear (gas
cooled and liquid metal cooled reactors) energy systems, thermoelectric power
systems, MHD systems, solar thermal power systems, phosphoric acid fuel cell
systems, and solid oxide fuel cell systems. For the last ten years of his
career,
Jerry was Manager, Applications Engineering. He was responsible for performing
SOFC system conceptual design and economic analysis for commercial, industrial,
and utility applications in order to establish how the technology could best
satisfy the requirements of the marketplace and to help define the SOFC technology
development requirements and goals. Jerry also participated in the marketing
activities and was responsible for establishing in 1988 the Utility Advisory
Council to help guide the SOFC technology development. The Utility Advisory
Council was the forerunner to SOCA. Since Jerrys retirement on April
1, 1996, he has continued to support the SOFC program as a consultant to
Westinghouse
and subsequently to SWPC in the areas of engineering, marketing and business
development. Jerry became the Administrator of SOCA on June 1, 1999 and is
responsible
for the day-to-day activities of the association.
