Information & Benefits
SOCA offers two classes of Membership, which are
designated as Full Members and
Associate Members. Full membership shall be
granted to firms, including utilities, corporations, partnerships and joint
ventures, engaged in related businesses and interested in fostering the development
and commercialization of Siemens Westinghouse SOFC technology. Each Full Member
shall appoint a representative who shall serve as a Director of SOCA and shall
be eligible to serve as an officer of SOCA or on the Governing Committee.
Associate membership shall be granted to relevant government agencies such
as the Department of Energy and industry agencies and organizations who are
supporters of Siemens Westinghouse SOFC technology. Associate Members shall
not have a representative serve on the Board of Directors or as an officer
of SOCA or on the Governing Committee but shall be eligible to attend and
participate in SOCA meetings and committees.
The benefits associated with being a SOCA Member are:
SOCA Members can participate in two general meetings
each year. One meeting is usually held at Siemens Westinghouse SOFC facilities
in Pittsburgh to give Members an opportunity to directly assess the progress
toward commercializing the SOFC technology. The other meeting is held at a
convenient location either in conjunction with another meeting such as the
Fuel Cell Seminar or at the host site of one of Siemens Westinghouse SOFC
system demonstrations. In addition, SOCA Members may elect to participate
on Subcommittees established by the Governing Committee to address topics
of interest to Members.
SOCA Members receive a Newsletter on the
Siemens Westinghouse SOFC Program. The Newsletter is issued twice a year.
The Newsletter is primarily intended to keep SOCA Members informed of the
progress toward commercializing the tubular SOFC technology. Each Newsletter
will include a brief article on SOFC technology and manufacturing development
progress, a status update on Siemens Westinghouse power system demonstration
programs, and a summary report on progress toward defining Siemens Westinghouse
future commercial product offerings. Special summary articles on Siemens Westinghouse
program developments will also be included. In addition, summary information
on other fuel cell program announcements and on distributed power generation
in general is also included. An open invitation is available to
SOCA Members to submit articles for the Newsletter on technical and business
issues relating to fuel cells and/or distributed power generation that would
be of interest to the Membership.
The Board of Directors establishes SOCA Membership
Fees on a yearly basis. For calendar year 2003, the fee for Full
Members is $2500. Each SOCA Member agrees to abide by the articles contained
in the Bylaws.
